On 8th June, at 7 pm, Sue Kreitzman and Ella Guru are unveiling to the world portraits they have done of each other. Ella have made a painting, and Sue has made two memory jug sculptures of Lucy and Ella. They’ll also be displaying other recent portraits dealing with identity and disguise, and Sue will show her colourful and intricately collaged paintings.

SUE KREITZMAN creates portraits and memory jugs using randomly discovered objects. The results are assemblages in which evocations of beautiful souls feel at times as if they are tormented by demons of mythology. 

ELLA GURU paints evocative portraits drawn from the inhabitants of the alternative midnight cultures of burlesque and performance arts. 

Both create surreal work of imagination inspired by a realist sensibility with an underlying sense of feminine compassion. 

This is a powerful exhibition celebrating the deep passions of two artists born on the same soil who have creatively flowered much further away within English culture accustomed to sense and sensibility.
